Signs You Should Not Get a Dog

It may not be surprising at how many times someone who has a pet dog tells you how amazing having one is. You might be thinking about getting a canine companion yourself after the several attempts persuaded to you by other people or by posters and advertisements plastered around Singapore media and websites that includes lines like “Puppy for Sale Singapore”, “Adopt a Dog Singapore”, or “Poodle Singapore”. However, not everyone is capable of taking care of a dog. If you’re not sure if you should get a dog, there are some questions you have to ask yourself before investing your time and responsibility into them.

The first and absolute warning sign that you shouldn’t get a dog is if you only want a puppy. It’s no denying that puppies are an adorable bundle of joy. Getting influenced by social media to get a puppy for selfies and pictures is not the reason people want to hear as to why you got a puppy. It has been scientifically proven that puppies do turn into grown dogs. So to prevent the possibility of disowning them once they’ve grown big, be sure you really want a dog as its whole unique self instead of when it was just a puppy.

Another factor that contributes to signs that you should not get a dog is that you do not have enough time to spend with them. Dogs require love, care, and attention. If you’re working long hours and are constantly traveling on business trips, then it might just not be the right time to adopt a dog.

Consider if you are able to give attention to your dog as having a loyal companion by your side also means investing your time and love them. So if you find yourself stuck in one of these factors listed above, it’s just not the best time to bring a canine home.
